The Tower Project :   Started in 2004, the Friends of Bramcote Old Church Tower began the task of restoration of the 13th century, grade II listed church tower and the respectful regeneration of the closed and deconsecrated graveyard.

In 2010 Bramcote Old Church Tower Trust was formed and in 2015 an application for Heritage Lottery Funding was made. The site is the focal point within the centre of the village of Bramcote and is of historical importance locally.

An 'artist's impression' of how the HLF funded 'Pod' will look once erected next to the tower.

National Lottery Boost for Bramcote Old Church Tower

Bramcote Old Church Tower is to receive support from National Lottery players through a grant of £363,400 from the Heritage Lottery Funding (HLF) to further restore the building and enhance the site for the enjoyment of the community.

Today we have learnt that our application for Heritage works has been given the ‘Permission To Start’ green light which means we can now instruct the architect to get cracking with arranging for the building contractors to start work.

Press Release from Anna Soubry MP : “Congratulations to the Friends of Bramcote Old Church Tower whose hard work now means that the ‘sunken church’ and its surroundings will be restored for the community.”

Our success with getting Heritage Lottery Funding was covered on Notts TV. Click here to see the video.

The Heritage Lottery Funded work has started
The three Alabaster panels (one in the floor and two on the walls) have been removed from the Tower and taken to a workshop at Grantham to dry out. While there restoration and preservation work will be done and then the panels will be returned in the Spring to be fixed to the internal walls.

Three Consultants have been appointed to help with the management of the project.

The restoration work on the Tower is expected to start in the week beginning 23 October.
